EMBRACE

The EMBRACE Study investigates how racial and ethnic discrimination impacts the quality of prenatal care and birthing experiences.

Through interviews and surveys with Black and Latine pregnant people, we examine:

  • Perceptions of respectful and disrespectful care

  • Experiences of racism and discrimination in healthcare settings

  • The role of support systems in mitigating negative healthcare experiences

We utilize a community researcher-student model to ensure that research is conducted by and for the communities most affected. Our findings inform policy recommendations and interventions aimed at eliminating racial disparities in maternal health.
