The EMBRACE Study investigates how racial and ethnic discrimination impacts the quality of prenatal care and birthing experiences.
Through interviews and surveys with Black and Latine pregnant people, we examine:
Perceptions of respectful and disrespectful care
Experiences of racism and discrimination in healthcare settings
The role of support systems in mitigating negative healthcare experiences
We utilize a community researcher-student model to ensure that research is conducted by and for the communities most affected. Our findings inform policy recommendations and interventions aimed at eliminating racial disparities in maternal health.
